Gloria received training in assessment, psychodynamic, and couples therapy at the Montreal General Hospital. In her 13-year position as staff therapist at Family Services York Region (previously Markham-Stouffville Family Life Centre), she assisted people with a wide range of mental health concerns including depression, post-partum depression, anxiety, trauma, bereavement, life transitions, self- esteem, assertiveness, stress management, historical childhood issues, and relationship difficulties. As part of the York Region Abuse Program (YRAP), Gloria co-facilitated treatment groups, for a number of years, for women survivors of childhood sexual abuse. Gloria’s therapeutic approach can best be described as “integrative” in nature. Although her main orientation is Client-Centered, she draws on Cognitive-Behavioral (CBT) Emotionally-Focused (EFT) and Systems-based therapies to tailor therapy to the needs of her clients.
