Dr. Ya Xue
Dr. Ya Xue received her doctoral training in Clinical Psychology at the University of Western Ontario. Following completion of her doctoral degree, Dr. Xue worked as a clinical psychologist for a number of years at the IWK Health Centre, a children’s hospital in Halifax NS, before moving back to Ontario. Dr. Xue is currently a staff psychologist at Kinark Child and Family Services where she provides psychological assessment, intervention and consultation services.
At Chrysalis, Dr. Xue provides treatment to children, adolescents, young adults, and parents. She has worked with clients presenting with a diverse range of concerns, including depression, emotion regulation difficulties, stress, adjustment to life transitions, anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
Dr. Xue also strongly believes in the importance of relationships across the lifespan. She has extensive training in attachment theory and attachment based interventions and enjoys working with parents to foster the development of secure attachment relationships with their children.
Dr. Xue has a warm, compassionate and collaborative style. Her practice is guided by evidence based treatments. She has training in a number of therapy models and practices from a theoretically integrative approach. The following models are incorporated into her clinical work on an individualized basis: Cognitive Behavioural, Dialectical Behavioural, Motivational, family therapy (emotion focused and solution focused), and attachment-based (Circle of Security).
